SLADE: "Slayed?" (1972)

past few weeks, I have very much present a series of recordings of the band Slade. In my iPod sounds wonderful as "Play it loud," his first live "Alive" or the fantastic "Old new borrowed and blue", but whoever takes the cake with a difference and I never get tired of listening is the tremendous "Slayed ? "published in 1972.
At first, Slade could give confusion and be considered a single group within the so-called glam-rock scene, having taken a good number of addictive singles who triumphed in the British charts and little else. Big mistake, folks! We are talking about leading a band that has influenced thousands of groups, and if not just ask Simmons and Stanley, which will surely have learned enough of the adventures of these guys either musically or carrying pints . Besides casting
several singles in the highest position of the lists, the LPs of this rock are to be taken into account, I assure you, and this "Slayed" is perhaps, in my view, the more disk representative and comprehensive of his career. Produced by Chas Chandler as producer and manager of none other than Jimi Hendrix, the ten songs that comprise it are a continuing party and perfect for humming their choruses to fade.

Who could resist these tunes and these subjects so perfect, folks? Nobody in their right mind and good taste in music. There are those delightful "The whole world's goin 'crazee", "Gudbuy Gudbuy" or "How d'you ride", with strong riffs and heart-rending voice of Noddy Holder to testify to that. Speaking of this beloved singer, is curious to see a convincing version of a classic Janis Joplin "Move Over" and get away with that hot dog and so difficult wager. Other arguments to defend to the death this work is the overwhelming cover to mark the "Let the good times roll / feel so good" and of course the mega-hit "Gudbuy T 'Jane", which will surely have heard many times.
essential Slade is a band that deserve greater respect and recognition from the rock community and justice would be more present among us. And we would be happier, no doubt!
